Aline M. Brescher, 85, Ireland

Aline M. Brescher, 85, of Ireland, died Friday, June 14, at Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center in Jasper. She was born in St. Henry June 25, 1933, to Robert and Ida (Hassfurther) Jochum. She married Allen O. Brescher June 19, 1954, at St. Benedict Cathedral in Evansville. He died September 5, 2015.

Aline was a graduate of Memorial High School in Evansville. She was a homemaker and co-owner and secretary of Brescher Soil Service for 20 years. She retired from St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Ireland where she had been a secretary for several years. She was a member of St. Mary’s Church, where she and her husband received the Brute Award in 1999 for their service in the Catholic faith, the St. Anne’s Society, Jasper Daughters of Isabella, VFW Auxiliary, the Women of the Moose, and the Jasper German Club. She volunteered at the Dubois County Museum, enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, and loved to read and play cards.

She is survived by four daughters, Gerilyn Schmitt and husband Wayne and Amy Rasche and husband Bernie, all of Ireland, Lisa Brescher-Masters and husband  Rob, Louisville, and Renee Williams and husband Steve, Jasper; four sons, Mark Brescher and wife Diane, Kurt Brescher, and wife Margaret, and Pat Brescher and wife Deb, all of Ireland, and Jeff Brescher, Jasper; 26 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, and sister-in-law Shirley Schmitt, Jasper. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by one brother, Leroy Jochum.

Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. Thursday, June 27, at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper. The St. Anne’s Society and D of I will pray a rosary at 1:30 p.m. at the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial  will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, June 28, at the church with burial following in the church cemetery.
