Bombers Fall to Paducah, Return to Action on Sunday at League Stadium for Faith, Family and Fathers Day at the Ballpark

  • Dubois County (NNDC):   Fans at League Stadium saw a lot of offense on Saturday night as the Bombers and Paducah combined for 25 hits and 20 runs.   The bats were hot for the Bombers but it wasn’t enough as the Chiefs found their way around the base paths 12 times on the night.   Dubois County jumped out on top in the bottom of the first inning when Evan Kahre singled to 3rd scoring Tyler Van Pelt who had reached base after being hit by the pitch earlier in the inning. Paducah tied up the game in the 2nd inning as Carson Shacklett’s sac fly to left center field allowed a run to score.   The Chiefs added 4 runs in the third and 2 more in the 4th inning to jump out to a 7-1 lead.     Dubois County bounced back in the bottom of the 4th inning as the Bombers plated 4 runs.    The rally was led by a sac fly by Zuriel Collins, singles by Austin Duffy, Bryson McNay and Benji Brokemond.   Tyler Van Pelt, Chase Hug, McNay and Brokemond all scored in the inning.   Paducah would pull away for good after adding 5 more runs in the 7th inning.  The Bombers would add one more in the 6th and 2 in the 7th but it wasn’t enough as the Chiefs pick up the 12-8 win.    Bennett Shoptaw took the loss on the mound for Dubois County after surrendering 7 runs on 6 hits over three and a third innings while striking out 3.    Dubois County had 12 hits in the contest with Matt Ellis, Chase Hug and Austin Duffy picking up 2 hits apiece.    The Bombers finish up a 4 game homestand on Sunday night as they host the Madisonville Minors.   Game time is set for 6pm.   It’s Faith, Family and Fathers Day at the ballpark.
