Lee Ray Goodman, 61, Cuzco

Lee Ray Goodman, 61, of Cuzco, died Thursday, June 13, at his home. He was born in Jasper on November 19, 1957, to Eugene and Mildred (Miller) Goodman. His first marriage was to Denise Vogt on August 29, 1986. She died September 3, 2013. He married Jill Harris January 19, 2017, in French Lick.

Lee Ray was a 1976 graduate of Northeast Dubois High School. He earned a diesel mechanic degree in Indianapolis and worked for A&R Pipeline in Celestine, Kimball, Morton Buildings, and ONEOK Gas Company in Ooolitic. He was a member of St. Isidore Parish – St. Celestine Catholic Church, the Celestine Community Club, and the Celestine Volunteer Fire Department. He enjoyed shooting matches, fishing, mushroom hunting, and cooking.

He is survived by his wife, Jill Goodman; two daughters, Andrea Johnston and husband Chris, Jasper, and Sasha Newland, Orleans; one son, Jacob Gerald Paul Newland, Cuzco; three grandchildren, Zach and Alexis Johnston and River Gonya; two sisters, Cheryl Burkhardt and husband Paul, Celestine, and Pam Carter and husband Dan, Louisville; and one brother, Ted Goodman and wife Kim, Celestine.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Eugene and Mildred Goodman, and his first wife, Denise Goodman.

Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper. Memorial contributions can be made to St. Isidore Parish or to a favorite charity.
