Bombers Shutout Owensboro RiverDawgs – Return to Action on Saturday at League Stadium on “Brews in the Bullpen” Night

Huntingburg (NNDC):  The Dubois County Bombers have won their first 2 games of a 4 day homestand as the RiverDawgs were sent back to Owensboro with a 10-0 loss to the Bombers.    Alex Franklin,  Tim Rogers and Andrew Schimmoler combined for a 3 hit shutout on Friday night.

The Bombers got on the board in the bottom of the first inning when Matt Ellis picked up an RBI on a sac fly to left field which brought in Zuriel Collins from 3rd giving Dubois County a 1-0 lead.   Tyler VanPelt would also cross the plate in the first when Evan Kahre flyed out to right field in the bottom of half of the inning.   Dubois County would add a pair of runs in the 6th, another 5 in the 7th inning and 1 more in the bottom of the 8th to round out the scoring.    The Bombers 5 run 7th was fueled by a walk for Evan Kahre, single by Tyler Van Pelt, a sacrifice fly by Austin Duffy and a double by Britton Graham.

The Bombers collected 9 hits on the day.   Tyler Van Pelt and Matt Ellis went 2 for 4 at the plate for Dubois County.   Alex Franklin picked up the win on the hill for the Bombers.  Franklin went 5 innings, allowed no runs on one hit, striking out two and walking one.

With the win, the Bombers are now 4-5 on the season and return to action on Saturday night as they host the Paducah Chiefs.   Game time is set for 7pm at League Stadium.  It’s Brews in the Bullpen night with craft beer tasting from 5pm-7pm.   Rain or shine, Brews in the Bullpen will take place.   Tickets for the craft beer tasting event can be purchased at the gate or save $5 per ticket buy getting them online at
