Stephen Kent Jerrell, 67, Jasper

Stephen Kent Jerrell, 67, of Jasper, died Friday, June 7, at his home. He was born in Indianapolis June 12, 1951, to James Luther and Anna Louise (Tolle) Jerrell. He married Kathryn Gramelspacher August 17, 1974, at Precious Blood Catholic Church in Jasper.

Steve grew up in Indianapolis. He graduated from Cathedral High School in
Indianapolis and Purdue University with a degree in Forestry. He joined the Peace Corp serving in Peru to implement reforestation projects. He owned his own forestry consulting business, buying veneer timber in New England, New York, Pennsylvania, Michigan, Indiana, and Kentucky, and consulted in timberland management.

Steve and Kathryn and their three children lived in Lyme, New Hampshire for
25 years before returning to Indiana.

He is survived by his wife, Kathryn Jerrell; one son, Peter Jerrell and wife Carrie-Ann, Rochester, Michigan; two daughters, Julie Jerrell and Maggie Winslow and husband Nate, all of Indianapolis; two brothers, Patrick Jerrell and wife Elaine and Michael
Jerrell and wife Linda, all of Indianapolis; and six grandchildren, Hayley, Tanner, Raegan, Jack, Jane, and Andrew.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one daughter, Elizabeth Ann Jerrell.

Friends may call from noon to 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Becher-Kluesner North Chapel in Jasper. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to Precious Blood Church or to the Dubois County CASA program. Online condolences can be shared at www.becherkluesner.com. Funeral services at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with burial following at a later date at Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens in Indianapolis. Father Gary Kaiser will officiate.
