Dubois County Bombers Drop High Scoring Contest with Henderson

Huntingburg (NNDC):  The Dubois County Bombers were on the road Saturday night as they traveled south to face the Henderson Flash.   In a game that saw a score that would more resemble a football game than baseball, it was back and forth with the Bombers getting on the board first with 1 run in the top of the 1st inning.   The Flash bounced back with 2 runs in the bottom of the first.   Dubois County tied it up in the 3rd inning before Henderson added 3 more in the bottom of the inning.  The Bombers added 3 to their run total in the 4th to tie the game.    The dagger for Dubois County came when Henderson scored 5 runs in the 7th and 9 in the 8th inning.  The Bombers did pick up 4 more runs in each of the 8th and 9th innings but it wasn’t enough as Henderson handed Dubois County their first loss of the season by the score of 20-16.

Brennan LaBarbera took the loss for Dubois County while pitching 1 inning and allowing 8 runs on 6 hits and striking out 1.   Patrick Queener got the start on the hill for the Bombers and he surrendered 5 runs on 9 hits while striking out 5 in three innings.  Dubois County had 11 hits in the game and with the loss are 1-1 on the season.

The Bombers return to action tonight (Sunday) as they host Fulton at 6pm in League Stadium.   It’s also Hoosier National Forest with Smokey Bear night at the ballfield.
