Dubois County Bombers Open Season with Win

Huntingburg (NNDC):  The Dubois County Bombers opened up the 2019 season on Friday night at League Stadium as they hosted the Muhlenberg County Stallions.    The Stallions struck first in the top of inning number 1 as they plated one runner, but the Bombers deficit was quickly diminished as they pick up 3 runs in the bottom half of the first.   Austin Duffy picked up 2 RBI’s in the inning with a double to center field.  Dubois County was solid on the night offensively as they belted out 12 hits and scored in every inning except the 5th and the 8th.   After having 3 runners cross the plate for Dubois County in the 1st inning, the Bombers added an additional run in each of the 2nd, 3rd and 4th innings before adding 3 more in the 6th and 2 in the 7th inning.    The Stallions did make a last ditch effort in the 9th inning as they struck for 4 runs, but it was not enough as Dubois County picked up the win 11-7.   Nick Parrish was the winning pitcher for the Bombers.  He allowed no hits and no runs while striking out 3 in the 3 innings he pitched.   Chase Hug and Zuriel Collins each had 3 hits on the night for Dubois County.   The Bombers are now 1-0 on the season and travel to Henderson for a Saturday night game and return home to League Stadium on Sunday night to face Fulton.
