Ruth E. Carlisle, 81, Pikeville

Ruth E. Carlisle, 81, of Pikeville, died Monday, May 27, at the Linda E. White Hospice House in Evansville. She was born near Stendal January 9, 1938, to Chester and Edna (Weitkamp) Brockriede. She married James R. “Jim” Carlisle April 26, 1958, at Zoar. He died July 24, 2013.

Ruth was a 1956 graduate of Holland High school. She farmed and was actively\ involved in the family farming operation until just recently. She was a clerk in the Pike County Recorders Office for 23 years and the Lockhart Township Trustee for 16 years. She was a lifetime member of Zoar United Methodist Church, a 50+ year member of the Winslow Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 391, served as Eastern Star District Deputy in 2001, and was former Grand Representative of the Utah Grand Chapter in Indiana. She enjoyed gardening, canning, sewing, making lap robes, and traveling with her family throughout the United States.  She was known for her cooking and was always willing to share her recipes.

She is survived by two sons, Max Carlisle and wife Cheryl, Pikeville, and Rex Carlisle and wife Paula, Stendal; one daughter, Beth Goeppner and husband Jason, Pikeville; seven grandchildren, Jacob and Taylor Carlisle, Brandon, Corey, and Parker Goeppner, and Hannah and Levi McCarter; and one great-grandchild, Tobias Carlisle.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.

Friends may call from 2-9 p.m. Friday at Nass and Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg and from 9-10 a.m. Saturday at Zoar UMC. An Eastern Star vigil service will be held at 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to Zoar Cemetery or Cup Creek Cemetery. Pastor Keith Chaney, Pastor  Jeff Crowe, and Pastor Terry Russell will officiate at the services
