Kenneth L. “Tex” Meyer, 69, Jasper

Kenneth L. “Tex” Meyer, 69, of Jasper, died Thursday, May 23, at his home. He was born in Huntingburg ¬†January 29, 1950, to Louis J. and Olivia E. (Oser) Meyer. He married Connie Voegerl May 18, 1985, at Salem United Church of Christ in Huntingburg.

Kenneth was a U.S. Marine veteran and served in the Vietnam War. He was a life member and past commander of VFW Post 673, a member of American Legion Post 147, the Wounded Veterans of Dubois County, the 40 and 8 Club, and a life member of the Southern Indiana Leathernecks Marine Corp League. He was a self-employed electrician, a partner in Mehinger-Meyer Electric Company. He was a member of Jasper Outdoor Recreation and enjoyed reading history and spending time with friends and family.

He is survived by his wife, Connie Meyer; two daughters, Davi Mattingly and husband Robert and Kena Robling and husband Lanny, all of Jasper; one son, Adam Meyer, Jasper; 11 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one sister, Lois Recker and husband Mark, Dubois; and one brother, Steven Meyer and wife Barb, Colorado Springs, Colorado.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, Bill and Chuck Meyer.

Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Becher-Kluesner North Chapel in Jasper. Memorial contributions can be made to the VFW Post 673 funeral detail or to a favorite charity. Online condolences can be shared at Funeral services at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with burial following in Fairview Cemetery. Pastor Darrel Land will officiate. VFW Post 673 will conduct military graveside rites.
