Jasper Wins Girls Track Sectional

Dubois County (NNDC):   The post season is underway in high school track with tennis sectionals getting started on Wednesday.   The baseball and softball sectionals begin next week.    On Tuesday night in Leopold, the Jasper Wildcats pick up another Sectional title in Girls track with 155.5 points.  Southridge finished in 2nd place with 143.5 points, Northeast Dubois had 51.5 which was good for 4th place and Forest Park finished in 5th place with 50 points.

In high school baseball, Jasper added to their win column with a 13-2 victory over Boonville.   With the win, the Wildcats earned another Big Eight conference title.  Forest Park struggled against Corydon Central as the Rangers fall 10-0 on Tuesday night.   Forest Park returns to action on Wednesday as they travel to Tell City.

On the high school softball diamond, the Jasper Wildcats jumped out early on Boonville but the host Pioneers scored 6 unanswered runs to pick up a 6-3 win.  Mia Werner had a solo shot in the top of the first giving Jasper a 1-0 lead.   Grace Colvin also hit a home run, a 2 run shot in the 3rd giving the Wildcats a 3 run cushion.  Boonville would bounce back with 3 in the 5th and 3 more in the 6th.   Grace Colvin took the loss for Jasper.   At Forest Park, the Rangers hosted the Northeast Dubois Jeeps in a county matchup.   The Jeeps jumped out to a 3-0 lead after 2 innings but the Rangers defense held the Jeeps scoreless for the remainder of the game.   With the game knotted at 3 heading into the bottom of the 5th inning, Forest Park exploded for 5 runs giving them an 8-3 lead and the eventual win.   Forest Park had 10 hits in the contest while Northeast Dubois had 6 of their own.   Allyson Werner had a pair of strikeouts in the complete game victory.   At Southridge, the host Raiders held the visiting Barr Reeve Vikings scoreless on Tuesday night as Southridge picks up the 7-0 win.   Lydia Genet had 4 K’s and picked up the win on the mound for Southridge.
