Social Media Coming to Dubois County Sheriff’s Office

Dubois County (NNDC):

Sgt. Stuart Wilson of The Dubois County Sheriff’s Office told the Dubois County Commissioners Monday that they soon will have a Facebook page and possibly other avenues of social media.

Sgt. Wilson and Sheriff Tom Kleinhelter presented the idea at the Monday’s commissioners meeting commenting that social media is a better way to communicate with the public Vs existing fax and email technology, especially as it is so readily available and allows for a quicker venue to spread a wide variety of information such as public safety matters, case investigation updates, and flooded roads, just to name a few.

The Sheriff’s Office hopes to make posts 2-3 times per week. He also requested to have the option of creating Twitter and Instagram accounts for the sheriff’s office, but was unsure of the timing or eventuality of that..

The commissioners approved the requests, but referred the Sheriff’s Office to the county’s social media policy for guidance in identifying and explaining the rules and limitations on the project.
