James L. “Jim” Durcholz, 82, Jasper

James L. “Jim” Durcholz, 82, of Jasper, died Monday, May 6, at Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center in Jasper. He was born in Jasper September 22, 1936, to Leo and Anita (Brelage) Durcholz. He married Linda Schitter April 12, 1956, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Ireland.

Jim worked for Jasper Lumber Company and retired from Kimball International. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Jasper. He enjoyed playing music and played in the Jim Durcholz and the Kountry Kats band for over 40 years.

He is survived by his wife, Linda Durcholz; two daughters, Nanette Mehringer and husband Wayne, Jasper, and Abigail Friedman and husband Stuart, Boca Raton, Florida; two sons, Brad Durcholz and wife Brenda, Warsaw, and Cory Durcholz and wife Kim, Jasper; eight grandchildren, Megan Messmer and husband Matt, Luke Mehringer and wife Sarah, Ashley Kreager and husband Ryan, Holly Gaskins and husband Tim, Kayla Dang and husband John, Shauna Lueken and husband Kyle, Kendra Brelage, and Bryce Durcholz; two step grandchildren, Robyn and Rachel Friedman; eight great-grandchildren, Alex and Michael Kreager, Henry Gaskins, Lorne Lueken, Kade Mehringer, Grant, Brynlee, and Ardon Messmer; one sister, Irma Kinder, Ireland; and one brother, Len Durcholz and wife Sharon, The Villages, Florida.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two sisters, Laverne Sermersheim and Bernice Rottet, and two brothers, Gene and Ronnie Durcholz.

Friends may call from 9-11 a.m. Thursday at St. Joseph Church. Memorial contributions can be made to St. Joseph Church or to a favorite charity.
