Sorrells Places at District Speech Contest

Northeast Dubois High School student Shambly Sorrells, winner of the Jasper Rotary Club speech contest, competed in the Rotary District 6580 4-Way Test Speech Contest on March 23, 2019 in Bedford, IN.  The purpose of District 6580’s speech contest is to encourage students to become aware of Rotary and its commitment to leadership and service. The topics are leadership and service, and students are asked to include these principles in their speech:

Of the things we think, say or do:

  1. Is it the Truth?
  2. Is it Fair to all concerned?
  3. Will it build goodwill and better friendships?
  4. Will it be beneficial to all concerned?

Ms. Sorrells was recognized as First Runner-up in the contest and received $500 for her dynamic speech. Maya Federle from Columbus took First Place and Molly Treadway from Vincennes was Second Runner-Up.

2019 Prizes Awarded:

Winner $1,000.00

1st Runner-up $ 500.00

2nd Runner-up $ 250.00
