Joan Coble, 96, Jasper

Joan Coble, 96, of Jasper, died Sunday, March 31, at St. Charles Health Campus in Jasper. She was born in Jasper November 1, 1922, to Anton and Martina (Schitter) Mehringer. She married Kenneth E. Coble October 25, 1952, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Ireland. He died December 12, 1992.

Joan was a cook at the Shamrock CafĂ© in Ireland and Yaggi’s Restaurant in Jasper for many years. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Jasper and its St. Anne’s Society. She loved her family and enjoyed playing cards, puzzles, and watching game shows and golf.

She is survived by two daughters, Denise Smith and husband Kirk and Debra Coble, all of Jasper; one granddaughter, Megan Smith; two sisters, Millie (Norb) Dick and husband Norb and Evelyn Sermersheim, all of Ireland; and one brother, Vic Mehringer, Jasper.

In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by three sisters, Cleopha Sage, Madeline Keusch, and Monica Knies, and six brothers, Ruben, Sylvan, Marvin, Donald, Tom and Rich Mehringer.

Friends may call from 9-11 a.m. Thursday at St. Joseph Church. Memorial contributions can be made to St. Joseph Church, Heart to Heart Hospice, or to the wishes of the family.
