Jerome J. “Jerry” Hilgefort, 78, Jasper

Jerome J. “Jerry” Hilgefort, 78, of Jasper, died Thursday, March 28, at Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center in Jasper. He was born in Cincinnati January 2, 1941, to Frank J. and Anna M. (Ford) Hilgefort. He married Ann Friedrich November 6, 1965, at St. Bartholomew Church in Cincinnati.

Jerry was a. U.S. Army veteran. He owned and operated Hilgefort Woodworking Machinery in Jasper for over 45 years and served on the board of the Woodworking Manufacturers of America. He was a member of Precious Blood Catholic Church in Jasper and previously served in the youth ministry at St. Joseph Catholic Church. He enjoyed snow skiing, sailing, golf, fly fishing, and spending time with his grandchildren and family.

He is survived by his wife, Ann Hilgeford; one daughter, Jennifer Hilgefort, Jasper; three sons, John Hilgefort and wife Stacy, Jasper, Kevin Hilgefort and wife Susie, Glenwood Springs, Colorado, and Matthew Hilgefort and wife Erica, Indianapolis; six grandchildren, Meredith, Denni, Emily, Ossie, Cash, and Harrison Hilgefort; four sisters, Verena Shroyer and husband Gerry, Dayton, Ohio, Catherine Kenny and Mary Davis and husband Donald, all of Cincinnati, and Nancy Vetter, Atlanta, Georgia; and nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one sister, Catherine Osborne, and two brothers-in-law, David Kenny and John Vetter.

Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. Monday at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper. Memorial contributions can be made to Precious Blood Church, Jasper Friends of the Arts, or to a favorite charity. Online condolences can be shared at A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Precious Blood Church with burial following at a later date.
