Police Arrest Florida Man in Jasper

JASPER POLICE RECEIVED A COMPLAINT FROM A
CONCERNED MOTORIST ABOUT A VEHICLE TRAVELLING WEST BOUND ON SR 164 COMING INTO JASPER STATING THAT THE VEHICLE WAS ALL OVER THE ROADWAY, CROSSING THE CENTER LINE AND TRAVELLING OFF THE SIDE OF THE ROADWAY.

JPD LOCATED THE VEHICLE DRIVEN BY JESUS PEREZ NORTHBOUND ON MERIDIAN RD. THE VEHICLE TURNED WEST ONTO 15TH ST FROM MERIDIAN RD AND RAN OFF THE ROADWAY WHILE MAKING THE TURN. HE THEN CROSSED OVER THE CENTER LINE OF THE ROADWAY AND THE OFFICER ATTEMPTED TO A TRAFFIC STOP, PEREZ THEN FLED, CONTINUING WEST BOUND ON 15TH ST REFUSING TO STOP.

PEREZ THEN ABRUPTLY CAME TO A STOP AT 15TH ST AND LEOPOLD ST. THE OFFICER EXITED HIS VEHICLE, APPROACHING THE VEHICLE WHERE A SHORT STRUGGLE  OCCURRED. HE WAS TAKEN INTO CUSTODY AS WELL AS THE PASSENGER OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED DUE TO THE DRIVER HAVING NO INSURANCE ON THE VEHICLE. THE PASSENGER WAS SUBSEQUENTLY RELEASED.

IN ADDITION, CHARGES,  CITATIONS FOR SPEEDING AND FAILING TO MAINTAIN FINANCIAL RESPONSIBILITY. DUBOIS COUNTY SHERIFF’S DEPT AND STERNBERGS ASSISTED ON SCENE.

RESULTING CHARGES INCLUDED  RESISTING LAW ENFORCEMENT w/ A VEHICLE (6 FELONY), AND RESTING LAW ENFORCEMENT (A MISDEMEANOR).
