NE Dubois High Briefly Evacuated Thursday Morning

Dubois (NNDC):

Around 11:00 A.M. Thursday morning power went out at the Dubois High School. During this time staff recognized an odor that created a concern.

The high school evacuated the premises and called in the local fire department to do a carbon monoxide check with their monitors. Power was restored by the Dubois County REC around 11:30. The Fire department gave the all clear signal around the same time.

Students then returned to the building. Emergency responders, staff and students as well as the REC are to be commended for their patience and expertise. Investigation discovered it to have been caused by a drill that was being administered correctly.
