Donald L. Werner, 81, Jasper

Donald L. Werner, 81, of Jasper, died Wednesday, March 6, at his home. He was born in Jasper April 27, 1937, to Robert and Edna (Breitweiser) Werner. He married Beverly Pfeffer June 19, 1965 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Jasper.

He retired as the owner of Don’s Sunoco in Jasper, where he worked for over 48 years. He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Jasper and its Men’s Sodality. He enjoyed gardening, watching sports, especially Nascar, Cincinnati Reds, St. Louis Cardinals, and the Indianapolis Colts, and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, and his friends.

He is survived by his wife, Beverly Werner; two daughters, Stacy Werner and fiancé Brett Mehringer, Velpen, and Angie Traylor and husband Kurt, Jasper; two sons, Brian Werner and wife Amy and Todd Werner and wife Lisa all of Jasper; nine grandchildren, Kendal Wehr, Clayton and Sydney Traylor, Jace, Pieper, Jax, and Quade Werner, Declan Stahl, and Lexi Mehringer; one great granddaughter, Adalie Wehr; four sisters, Norma Kimmerle and husband John, Jasper, and Betty Keeler, Margie Werner, and Marilyn Schipley  and husband Jim, all of Columbus, Ohio; four brothers, Eugene Werner and wife Jane, Jasper, Tom Werner and wife Mary Jane, Ireland, and Leo “Butch” Werner and wife Ginger and Jerry Werner, all of Columbus, Ohio; and sister-in-law Leona Werner, Jasper.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one brother, Raymond Werner.

Friends may call from noon to 6 p.m. Sunday at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper and from 9-10 a.m. Monday at Holy Family Church. The Holy Family parish will pray a rosary at 11:45 a.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions can be made to Holy Family Church or to a favorite charity. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at the church with burial following in Fairview Cemetery.
