James R. Zink, 80, Huntingburg

James R. Zink, 80, of Huntingburg, died Monday, February 11, at his home. He was born in Ferdinand January 28, 1939, to Roman and Evelyn (Whipking) Zink. He married Shirley Worman June 13, 1958, in Illinois. She died May 26, 2001.

James worked as a truck driver and was a member of VFW Post 2366. He served in the United States Navy as a quartermaster seaman aboard the USS Toledo.

He is survived by three daughters, Terri Haake and husband Max, Chandler, and Sherry Sherron and Kathi Reynolds and husband Todd, all of Huntingburg; four sons, James J. Zink and wife Terri, Steve Zink and wife Donna, and Danny C. Zink and wife Karla, all of Huntingburg, and Dennis Zink and wife Donna, Newark, Delaware; two sisters, Barbara Tredway, Huntingburg, and Kathy Nelson, Petersburg; 18 grandchildren; and 32 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents and wife he was preceded in death by three brothers, Charlie, Joseph, and Terre Zink, and three sisters, Shirley and Wanda Payne and Rosie Owens.

Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Nass and Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg. A parish vigil service will be held at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Funeral services¬† at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Huntingburg with burial following in Fairmount Cemetery. The funeral mass will be celebrated by Father Ryan Hilderbrand. Military graveside rites will be conducted by the VFW Post 2366 memorial detail.
