Martin J. Weisman, 78, Bloomington

Martin J. Weisman, 78, of Bloomington, died Saturday, February 9, at The Timbers of Jasper. He was born in Boone Township in Dubois County January 26, 1941, to Alfred and Viola (Thimling) Weisman.

Martin was a U.S. Air Force veteran and served in the Vietnam War. He worked as a TV tuner technician in Indianapolis and Bloomington for many years and retired as a technician for General Electric in Bloomington. He was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Boone Township and he enjoyed fishing and mushroom hunting. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals baseball, Indiana University basketball, and Cleveland Browns football fan.

He is survived by two sisters, Marlene Mann and husband John, Dubois, and Barbara Mosby and husband Jerry, Troy; three brothers, Charles Weisman and wife LaVerne and David Weisman and wife Susan, all of Boone Township, and Radius W. Weisman and wife Rebecca L., Jasper; and a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one brother, John W. Weisman.

Friends may call from 9-11 a.m. Tuesday, February 19 at St. John’s Church. Memorial contributions can be made to St. John’s Lutheran Church or to a favorite charity. Online condolences can be shared at Funeral services at 11 a.m. Tuesday, February 19, at the church with burial following in the church cemetery. Pastor Catherine Burnette will officiate. VFW Post 673 will conduct military graveside rites.
