Dolores C. Habig, 98, Jasper

Dolores C. Habig, 98, of Jasper, died Saturday, February 9, at the Northwood Retirement Community in Jasper. She was born in St. Henry February 4, 1921, to William and Therese (Fritch) Kuper. She married Jerome F. Habig June 24, 1947, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Jasper. He died February 6, 2013.

Dolores was a 1939 graduate of Jasper High School and a graduate of Lockyear Business College. She worked in Evansville and Jasper before becoming a stay at home mom for her five children. She did volunteer work for scouting, especially for the Girl Scout Day Camp, and she served on the Jasper Public Library Board for many years. Her interests included spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, reading, flower gardening, and playing cards, especially bridge, and mahjong. She was a member of St. Joseph Church, the Daughters of Isabella, the St. Anne Society, American Legion Auxiliary Post 147, Dubois County Museum, ROJAC, and Friends of the Library. Through the years she belonged to many social clubs.

She is survived by two daughters, Cindy Roberts and husband Steve, Greenwood, and Sarah Faller and husband Keith, Carmel; three sons, Steve Habig and wife Susan, Jasper, and Dr. Mark Habig and wife Carol and Luke Habig and wife Beth, all of Indianapolis; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; four step grandchildren; and 11 step great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by two grandsons, Phillip and Andrew Faller, one brother, Maurice Kuper, and one sister, Sr. Bernice Kuper, Sister of Providence.

Friends may call from 9-11 a.m. Thursday at St. Joseph Church. Memorial contributions can be made to St. Joseph Church or to the Jerome and Dolores Habig Family Endowment at the Dubois County Community Foundation. Online condolences can be shared at A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the church with burial following in Fairview Cemetery.
