Dennis Maurice Hoffman, 77, Fulda

Dennis Maurice Hoffman, 77, of Fulda, died Tuesday, February 5, at Willowdale Village in Dale. He was born in St. Meinrad May 6, 1941, to John and Mary (Bumm) Hoffman. He married Connie Jarboe October 28, 1967, at St. Pius Catholic Church in Troy.

Dennis was a 1959 graduate of St. Ferdinand High School. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in March of 1963. He was stationed in Germany until February of 1969. He was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church in Fulda where he volunteered as a lector and took up collection. He served on the board of the Fulda Sportsman Club and helped establish and coach Fulda Little League baseball. He was a skilled brick mason. He retired from Alcoa in 2002 after 30 years of employment. He enjoyed cattle farming, fishing, hunting, playing Euchre, and spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Connie Hoffman; two daughters, Jennie Blessinger and husband Brian, Ferdinand, and Amy Heacock and husband Robert, Oakland City; two sons, Travis Hoffman and wife Stephanie, Lamar, and Jason Hoffman and wife DeAnna, Santa Claus; one brother, Allen Hoffman; two sisters, Anna Grooms and Mary Lou Lasher; eight grandchildren, Olyvia, Kendal, Madison, Molly, Taylor, Hannah, Sydney, and Tyler; and three great-grandchildren, Atlas, Rhilyn, and Bella.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by four brothers, Edwin, Norman, John, and Raymond Hoffman; and five sisters, Elsie Morgan, Alberta Schultheis, Virginia Fritz, Loretta Hoffman, and Barbara Feldpausch.

Friends may call from 3-7 p.m. Sunday and from 7-9;30 a.m. Monday at Becher Funeral Home in Ferdinand. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the American Alzheimer’s Association. St. Meinrad American Legion Post 366 will conduct military graveside honors.
