Huntingburg Woman Faces Numerous Felony Charges

Huntingburg (NNDC) – Tawna Knebel, 34, of Huntingburg faces numerous charges following her arrest this past weekend at the Super 8 Motel in Jasper. Jasper City Police say Knebel  faces charges on 32 level 6 felonies. The charges include on charge of possession of methamphetamines, three charges of identity deception, three charges of synthetic identity deception, 13 counterfeiting charges, and 12 charges of forgery.

JPD received a tip about drug activity at the motel where they encountered Knebel. She provided them with a small baggie containing a small amount of suspected methamphetamines, which she had on her person.

After obtaining a search warrant, the investigating police discovered documents and IDs containing personal information of another person they believed had been stolen by Knebel. They also found an identification containing the stolen information, but with Ms. Knebel’s photograph. She admitted to fraudulently using the identifiers of another person to obtain an ID.

Police say the investigation is still going on and more charges are likely.
