Dubois County Sports – IHSAA Girls Basketball Sectional

Dubois County (NNDC):   The Southridge Raiders went head to head with the Princeton Tigers on Friday night in the semi-finals of the Vincennes Girls Basketball Sectional.   Southridge was trying to avenge an early season loss to Princeton and led the Tigers by 1 at halftime.  Princeton pulled away late to end the Lady Raiders season 32-25.   Mady Neukam ended her career at Southridge as she led the Raiders with 16 points.    Southridge ends their season with a 7-15 record.

Northeast Dubois faced rival Springs Valley in their Sectional semi-final matchup on Friday night and held tough against the heavily favored Blackhawks.   The Jeeps Brinley Royer stepped up to the free throw line with 6 seconds remaining in the contest and a chance to break the 32 all tie.   Royer missed the front end of the 1-1 and the Blackhawks Jewel McCormick snagged the rebound giving Springs Valley one last shot to avoid the upset.   The Blackhawks were able to move the ball quickly up the court and got the ball to Freshman Kennedy Land who was open underneath the basket.   Land drained a two pointer as time expired advancing the Blackhawks into the 1A Sectional Championship game.   Madison Cave led Northeast Dubois with 11 points.   With the loss, Andy Chinn’s Jeeps end their season at 5-18.
