Maxine M. Kunz, 74, Jasper

Maxine M. Kunz, 74, of Jasper, died Monday, January 7, at Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center in Jasper. She was born in Dale February 16, 1944, to Ray and Ida (Gogel) Haug. She married Ronald Kunz May 6, 1966, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Dale.

Maxine was a 1962 graduate of Dale High School. She and her husband were co-owners of Heichelbech’s Restaurant in Jasper for 29 years. She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Jasper. She enjoyed fishing and playing cards and was an avid Indiana University basketball, St. Louis Cardinals, Indianapolis Colts, and Indiana Pacers fan.

She is survived by her husband, Ronald Kunz; two sons, Curt Kunz and wife Becky and Steve Kunz and companion Jane Wendholt, all of Jasper; two grandchildren, Austin Kunz and wife Elisabeth, Celestine, and Elizabeth Kunz, Jasper; three sisters, Mary Ann Ferguson and husband Dave, Huntingburg, Patty Trueblood and husband Robert, Madison, and Rita Barnett and husband Dave, Cincinnati; and two brothers, Dennis Gogel and wife Clara “Toots,” St. Henry, and Bill Gogel and wife Attilia, Winter Haven, Florida.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles and Harvey Gogel.

Friends may call from 9-11 a.m. Saturday at Holy Family Church. Memorial contributions can be made to Holy Family Church or to a favorite charity. Online condolences can be shared at A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the church with burial following in Fairview Cemetery.
