Marjorie Vera Ahrens, 86, Huntingburg

Marjorie Vera Ahrens, 86, of Huntingburg, died Friday, December 21, at her home. She was born in Huntingburg July 23, 1932, to Elmer and Florence (Crandall) Lehmkuhler. She married Carl R. Ahrens  December 23, 1950, at Salem Church.

Marjorie received her Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees in Education. She was a teacher and small business owner, a member of Salem United Church of Christ and church and mental health programs. She volunteered and enjoyed flowers and playing cards.

She is survived by her husband, Carl R. Ahrens; two daughters, Kathy DesLauriers and husband Gene, Wilmington, North Carolina, and Lisa Baumann and husband Chris, Scranton, Pennsylvania; and five grandchildren, Danielle, Andrea, and John DesLauriers and Avery and Austin Baumann.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by one brother, Larry Lehmkuhler.

A memorial reception and gathering of family and friends will be held from 2-4 p.m. Wednesday at Carl and Marjorie Ahrens’ residence. Nass and Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg is in charge of arrangements. Memorial contributions can be made to Salem. Online condolences can be shared at
