Thomas E. Benda, 73, Dubois

Thomas E. Benda, 73, of Dubois, died Friday, September 14, at his home. He was born in Stonewood, West Virginia, June 3, 1945, to Paul and Margaret (Kovalan) Benda. He married Jane H. Seng August 7, 1971, at St Raphael’s Catholic Church in Dubois.

Tom retired from Ford Motor Company after 35 years of service. He was a U.S. Army ¬†veteran and served in Vietnam. He was a member of St. Raphael’s Church and enjoyed Ford Mustangs, NASCAR, working outdoors, and spending time with family.

He is survived by his wife Jane Benda; one daughter, Tara Benda and fiancé Lee Krystinik, Skiatook, Oklahoma; brothers and sisters-in-law, and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one sister, Mary K. Steffick, one brother, David Benda, brother-in-law Tom Steffick, and sister-in-law Kathleen (Seng) Ebert..

A Memorial Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Raphael’s Church with burial following in the church cemetery. VFW Post 673 will conduct military graveside rites. Memorial contributions can be made to St. Isidore Catholic Church, St. Jude’s Hospital, Sisters of St. Benedict, or to a favorite charity. Online condolences can be shared at www.becherkluesner.com.
