Dubois County Sports – Saturday Scores

Dubois County (NNDC): It was a busy day around the area for high school sports teams and fans.    In Boys Basketball, the Southridge Raiders opened up the 2018-19 campaign under new head coach Mark Rohrer at Memorial Gym against Corydon Central,  Forest Park was on the road to Tell City and NE Dubois traveled to Heritage Hills.  In Girls Basketball, Jasper visited Evansville Central.

At Huntingburg Memorial Gymnasium, Corydon Central ran into a buzz saw as the Raiders were hitting on all cylinders and took control of the game early and never looked back.   Southridge took a commanding 18-6 lead into the 2nd quarter and a 31-15 lead into halftime.    The Raiders would score the first 20 points in the 3rd quarter to take a 51-15 lead with 1:45 to go in the 3rd.   Southridge built it’s largest lead in the latter stages of the 3rd quarter taking a 37 point lead at 54-17.   As most of the starters exited the game, the Raiders didn’t let up on the gas pedal as Southridge went on to win 69-32.  The Raiders had 4 players in double figures as Joe LaGrange led Southridge with 18 points, Colson Montgomery had 16, Jaden Hayes chipped in 15 and Garrett Voegerl had 10.   Southridge is 1-0 on the season and will travel to Tell City on Friday night with an 8pm Varsity tip.

In other action featuring Dubois County teams,  In Boys Basketball Tell City downed Forest Park 60-40.   Curt Hopf led Forest Park with 17 points.   NE Dubois fell to Heritage Hills 78-39 to drop their record to 2-1 on the season.   Forest Park will return to action on Friday night as they travel to Loogootee and NE Dubois will be at home to face Orleans on Friday.    In Girls Basketball, Jasper defeated Evansville Central 72-36.  Brooke Nottingham led Jasper with 26 points.   Up next for the Lady Wildcats is Heritage Hills on Tuesday night with an 8pm varsity tip.
