Dubois County Sports – Thursday Scores

Dubois County (NNDC):   Two Dubois County Schools were on the hardwood Thursday night looking to add to their win total.

At Huntingburg Memorial Gymnasium, the 0-7 Lady Raiders hosted 5-4 Tell City in a game that Southridge was hoping to earn their first victory of the season.   The Raiders got off to a sizzling start jumping out to a 9-0 lead behind a 3 pointer and a pair of deuces by Senior Mady Neukam and a 2 pointer by Monica Steckler.    Southridge never looked back and built on that lead throughout the game.    The Raiders were up  17-4 after one and built a 15 point lead in the 2nd quarter before heading into halftime leading by the score of 27-14.   Southridge added to their lead in the 3rd and held a commanding 20 point lead (46-26) heading into the 4th quarter.     The Raiders held strong to finish off a very solid game against the Marksman with a 55-36 win, sending Southridge to the locker room with their first victory of the season.    Mady Neukam led the Raiders with 21 points, Myah Montgomery added 16, Monica Steckler had 10 and Abi Kerkhoff chipped in 6.    Southridge returns to action on Tuesday December 4th as the Raiders will host North Posey.

The NE Dubois Lady Jeeps were at the home to face Springs Valley on Tuesday night.    The Jeeps entered the contest looking for their 2nd win of the season while the Blackhawks came into the game at 5-1 under 2nd year head coach and former Forest Park leader Marty Niehaus.   Size was an issue for NE Dubois as the Jeeps were unable to stop the inside game by the Blackhawks as center Jewel McCormick paced Springs Valley from the inside with 34 points.   NE Dubois trailed 14-6 after one and 32-20 at the half.   The Jeeps fell behind by 17 points heading into the 4th but they did not give up and outscored Springs Valley by 10 in the final quarter as they dropped 24 points in the 4th.    A hard fought game for NE Dubois but they fell short by the score of 61-54.  Madison Cave led the Jeeps with 26 points.   The Jeeps fall to 1-10 on the season and will host Tell City next Thursday night December 6th.
