James L. Fleck, 77, Maltersville

James L. Fleck, 77, of Maltersville, died Wednesday, November 28, at his home. He was born in Jasper April 6, 1941, to Andrew and Martha (Giesler) Fleck. He married Viola M. Schulthies April 19, 1969, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Huntingburg.

James served in the Indiana Army National Guard and was a member of American Legion Post 493 in St. Anthony. He was a lifelong famer in the Maltersville area. He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Jasper, the Jasper Knights of Columbus, and the St. Anthony Community Center. He enjoyed farming, fishing, and spending time with family and friends.

He is survived by his wife Viola Fleck; one daughter, Theresa Luebbehusen and husband Bill, Ferdinand; two sons, Stan Fleck and wife Mara, Maltersville, and Steve Fleck and wife Chris, St. Anthony; nine grandchildren, Logan, Leighton, Landon, Madison, Carson, and Luke Fleck, and Dustin, Aubrey, and Adalyn Luebbehusen; three sisters, Ruth Goeppner, Ireland, Pat Hasenour and husband Gerald, Celestine, and Aline Laake and husband Dave, Nashville Tennessee; and one brother Jerome Fleck, St. Anthony.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one brother, Ralph Fleck.

Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. Sunday at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper. Members of Holy Family Parish will pray a rosary at 1:45 p.m. at the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at Holy Family Church with burial following in Fairview Cemetery. St. Anthony American Legion Post 493 will conduct military graveside rites.
