James D. “Jim” Neely, 60, Jasper

James D. “Jim” Neely, 60, of Jasper, died Friday, November 16, at Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center in Jasper. He was born in Deerfield, Illinois, January 23, 1958, to James and Carol (Schauberger) Neely. He married Ann (Gadlage) Taylor January 24, 2003.

Jim was a 1976 graduate of Dayton Christian High School and a 1980 graduate of Cedarville College, where he earned his Bachelor’s Degree. Jim previously was the news director for WITZ and was a pastor at Grace Community Church. He was a member of CrossPoint Fellowship Church and loved to write, listen to music, and spend time with his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Ann Neely; one daughter, Sarah Bradshaw and husband Evan, Indianapolis; one step daughter, Amy Mehringer and husband Shaun, Evansville; one step son, Ryan Taylor and wife Dayna, Jasper; four grandchildren, Ally, Kayden, Max, and Wyatt; his mother, Carol Neely, Terre Haute; two sisters, Janie Street and husband John, Santa Clarita, California, and Patty Zemmer and husband Dave, Terre Haute; and one brother, Kenn and wife Julie, Evanston, Illinois.

He was preceded in death by his father, James Neely, and one sister, Sandy Lewis.

Friends may call from 9-11 a.m. Tuesday at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel. Memorial contributions can be made to the wishes of the family.
