Jasper awarded City of the Year

Jasper (NNDC):

Tuesday evening, Jasper Mayor Terry Seitz at the Indiana Chamber of Commerce Annual Membership Meeting in Indianapolis accepted the Community of the Year award from the State of Indiana.

In accepting the award, the Mayor noted that this is indeed an honor, because through the emphasis is on Community, rather than City, and it distinguishes an entire region.

He continued that we serve as the economic center of Southwest Central Indiana. Long before the term regional city was promoted by the State of Indiana, we established ourselves as: A center of enterprise and employment, dining and shopping, and a center for tourism and entertainment.

He reminded us all that the historical marker on our City Hall has these words:  (Jasper is) a leading Indiana city and a city of leaders,  if you want to get things done, and done well, have people from Jasper on your team.

This award represents the starting line for our future with the best yet to come.  He concluded by complimenting the community of Jasper, our citizens and our businesses.
