Huntingburg Police Arrest Man on Multiple Felony Charges

Huntingburg (NNDC):

Huntingburg Police conducted a traffic stop on 19th and Medical Arts Dr. and recognized Austin Zehr who was known to have active warrants out of Dubois County:

The officer ordered Zehr out of the vehicle and attempted to detain him.  As he exited the vehicle, he attacked the HPD officer with brass knuckles multiple times.  The suspect continued to resist forcing the officer to take the subject to the ground where he was able to restrain him until additional officers arrived.

The arresting officer, Tim Roos, received multiple minor injuries and was taken to Memorial Hospital where he was treated and released.

During the incident Dubois Co. Dispatch received calls reporting an officer being attacked and additional officers responded.  HPD wishes to thank the citizens who called in and helped to help a bad situation from getting worse.

Austin Zehr was charged with; Theft – Class A misdemeanor;  Failure to return to lawful detention – Level 6 Felony; Aggravated Battery – Lvl. 3 Felony; 2 Counts of battery on a Public Safety Official – Lvl. 5 Felony; 2 Counts of resisting arrest Lvl.6 Felony; Intimidation with a deadly weapon – Lvl. 5 Felony; Possession of Meth. – Lvl. 6 Felony; & 1 Count of possession of a syringe – Lvl. 6 felony.
