Mary Lou Blessinger, 86, Huntingburg

Mary Lou Blessinger, 86, of Huntingburg, died Thursday, October 18, at St. Charles Health Campus in Jasper. She was born in Huntingburg January 24, 1932, to Anselm and Emma (Reckelhoff) Heitz. She married Conrad “Coonie” Blessinger April 24, 1954, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Huntingburg. He died March 13, 1995.

Mary Lou was a homemaker and a member of St. Mary’s Church. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren, attending church picnics, and doing scratch off tickets. She was an animal lover and an avid fan of the Dubois County Bombers, Forest Park Rangers, and Los Angeles Dodgers.

She is survived by three daughters, Lisa Blessinger, Huntingburg, Tammy Wahl and husband Thomas, Seymour, and Gina Jochem and husband Robert, St. Henry; six sons, Stephen, Dana, and Conrad Blessinger, Jr., all of Huntingburg, Randy Blessinger and wife Yvonne, Evansville, Dean Blessinger and wife Lydia, Ferdinand, and Eric Blessinger and wife Victoria, St. Anthony; 15 grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by one son, Michael Blessinger, who died in infancy, two grandchildren, Jeffrey Earl and Chase Blessinger, two sisters, NormaTruelove and Anselma Heitz, one brother, Robert Heitz, and one half- brother, Clarence Reckelhoff.

Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. Monday at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper. St. Mary’s Parish will pray a rosary at 7:30 at the funeral home. Memorial contributions can be made to St. Mary’s Church, Riley’s Children Hospital, or to a favorite charity. Online condolences can be shared at A A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at St. Mary’s Church with burial following in the church cemetery.
