Garet Robert Schepers, 25, Jasper

Garet Robert Schepers, 25, of Jasper, died Monday, October 15, at University of Louisville Hospital in Louisville. He was born in Huntingburg March 2, 1993, to Edward J. and Kathryn (Jackle) Schepers.

Garet was a lifelong member of Christ Lutheran Church in Haysville. He was a 2012 graduate of Jasper. He enlisted in the U.S. Army during high school and left for basic training a few weeks after graduation. He was employed by OFS in Huntingburg and by G&T Industries in Jasper. He enjoyed spending time with family, playing online video games with his friends and siblings, and going to car shows. He liked music, camping and spending time outdoors, and hanging out with family and friends.

He is survived by his parents, Edward Schepers and Kathryn Cozza, both of Jasper; his stepfather, Joseph Cozza, Jasper; one sister, Kirby Schepers; two brothers, Bryor Schepers and Levin Cozza; one step-brother, David Cozza and wife Lauren; his grandmother, Bernadine Schepers, Jasper; his grandfather, Robert Jackle, Jasper; four uncles, Donnie Schepers and wife Marilyn, Victor Schepers and wife Becky, Tom Schepers (his Godfather) and wife Sandy, and James Jackle and wife Diana; six aunts, Barbie Goeppner and husband Steve, Grace Wagner and husband Kenny, Mary Bradley and husband Pat, Rhonda Schepers, Sharon Rizley, and Becky Sue Schepers (his Godmother); and a number of step aunts and uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Linus Garrett Schepers, his maternal grandmother,Sandra (Richards) Jackle Johnson, his step-grandmother, Sharon Jones Jackle, and six uncles, Ronnie and Danny Schepers, Thomas, Ronald, and Kenneth Jackle, and Darren ‘Bubz’ Rizley.

Friends may call from 3-8 p.m. Friday at the Becher-Kluesner North Chapel in Jasper. Memorial contributions may be made to Christ Lutheran Church or to a favorite charity. Online condolences can be shared at www.becherkluesner.com. Funeral services at 11 a.m. Saturday at the church with burial following in Portersville Cemetery. VFW Post 473 will conduct military graveside rites.
