Levieness S. Schitter, 91, Jasper

Levienes S. Schitter, 91, of Jasper, died Sunday, September 30, at Brookside Village in Jasper. He was born in Ireland November 19, 1926, to Sylvester and Leona (Eckert) Schitter. He married Louise (Kreilein) Luker November 17, 1979, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Jasper.

Levieness was a mail carrier in Jasper for over 40 years. He was a member of St. Joseph Church, American Legion Post No. 147, and a lifetime member of the Ireland Sportsman Club and VFW Post No. 673.He enjoyed fishing, gardening, and hulling nuts, especially pecans.

He is survived by his wife, Louise Schitter; one step-son, Jim Luker and wife Carol, Jasper; one step-granddaughter, Mandy Upppencamp and husband Jason, White Oak; step great-grandchildren; great-great step grandchildren; two brothers, Kenny Schitter and wife Mary, Jasper, and David Schitter and wife Janet, Ireland; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one brother, Melvin Schitter.

Friends may call from 9-11 a.m. Thursday at St. Joseph Church. Memorial contributions can be made to St. Joseph Church or to a favorite charity. Online condolences can be shared at www.becherkluesner.com. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the church with burial following in Fairview Cemetery. VFW Post 673 will conduct military graveside rites.
