Ronald L. “Ron” Leech, 78, Birdseye

Ronald L. “Ron” Leech, 78, of Birdseye, died Thursday, September 27, at his home. He was born in Monroe City August 25, 1940, to Bernard and Anna Jane (Lannan) Leech. He married Janet Borden May 15, 1965, at Birdseye Christian Church.

Ron was employed at Kimball for 42 years. He was a veteran of the United States Army. He was a member of Birdseye Christian Church, St. Meinrad American Legion Post No. 366, Birdseye Conservation Club, and the Jasper Moose Lodge. He enjoyed woodworking, bird watching, and doing word search puzzles.

He is survived by his wife, Janet R. “Jan” Leech; one daughter, Rhonda Chumbley and husband Johnny, Birdseye; one sister, Patty Bruner, Shepherdsville, Kentucky; one brother, David Leech and wife Linda, Henderson, Kentucky; brother-in-law Jim McCaul, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; and two grandchildren, Brandon and Austin Chumbley.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his step mother, Doris Leech, and one sister, Sheri McCaul.

Friends may call from 3-8 p.m. Monday and from 9-10 a.m. Tuesday at the Nass and Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg. Memorial contributions can be made to Birdseye Christian Church. Online condolences can be shared Funerall services at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home followed by burial in the Birdseye Cemetery. Graveside military rites will be conducted by the St. Meinrad American Legion.
