Joyce Mae Stilwell, 85, Algiers

Joyce Mae Stilwell, 85, of Algiers, died Saturday, September 22, at Amber Manor Care Center in Petersburg. She was born in Velpen January 21, 1933, to Albert and Zelpha (Stephens) McLaughlin. She married Ray Richard Stilwell June 2, 1952, in Arthur.

Joyce was a homemaker and a member of the Brenton Chapel Church of Christ in Petersburg. She enjoyed cooking, family get-togethers, spending time at her and her husband’s place in Florida, and being a military wife.

She is survived by her husband, Ray Stilwell; three daughters, Brenda Hamm and husband Don, Petersburg, Donna Herold and husband Daniel, Vida, Oregon, and Margaret Evans and husband William, Algiers; one son, Stephen Stilwell and wife Marlene, Henderson, Kentucky; 11 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren; four sisters, Dorothy Hardin and Ruth Ann Nelson and husband Stanley, all of Otwell, Lillian Ruckriegle, Ireland, and Marie Gilliand and husband Daniel, Petersburg; and one brother, James McLaughlin and wife Shirley, Otwell.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday and from 10-11 a.m. Wednesday at Brenton Chapel Church. Memorial contributions can be made to a favorite charity.
