David L. Doersam, 46, Jasper

David L. Doersam, 46, of Jasper, died Thursday (September 6) at the Indiana Veterans Home in West Lafayette. He was born in Jasper December 31, 1971, to Clinton and Marilyn (Parker) Doersam.

David was a United States Army veteran, serving as an infantryman and cavalry scout in Hawaii and Ft. Hood, Texas, and in Afghanistan and Iraq. He was awarded the Expert Infantryman Badge, Army Commendation With Valor Device, Army Commendation Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal (2nd Award), National Defense Service Medal (2nd Award), Overseas Service Ribbon (2nd Award), Air Assault Badge, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, and the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal. He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Jasper, V.F.W. Post No. 673, and American Legion Post No. 147. He enjoyed video games and sports, especially watching the Denver Broncos, St. Louis Cardinals, and Indiana Pacers.

He is survived by his mother and stepfather, Marilyn and Leo Clements, Jasper; one daughter, Alyssa Seitz; one sister, Deanna Farley, Jasper; one brother, Tim Doersam and wife LaVon, Jasper; and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Clinton Doersam.

Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. Monday at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper. Memorial contributions may be made to Holy Family Church or to the Huntington’s Disease Society for America. Online condolences can be shared at www.becherkluesner.com. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Holy Family Church with burial following in Enlow Cemetery in Jasper. V.F.W. Post 673 will conduct military graveside rites.
