David A. Grundhoefer, 74, Santa Claus

David A. Grundhoefer, 74, of Santa Claus, died Tuesday (August 28) at his home. He was born in Mariah Hill January 7, 1944, to Arthur and Cecelia Grundhoefer. He married Marsha Werner May 24, 1969, in Tell City.

Dave was a graduate of Dale High School and Brescia College with a degree in education and business. In the 1970s Dave and his wife owned and operated a clothing store, Four Seasons, and a shoe store, The Shoe String, both located in Santa Claus. He was involved in the initial development of Christmas Lake Village, which led to his longtime realty career. He was the owner of Towne and Country Century 21 Realty in Santa Claus. He was involved with a number of organizations. He was a lifelong member of St Nicholas Church, the Knights of Columbus, Santa Claus Optimist, and Christmas Lake Board of Directors.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Marsha; one son, Todd Grundhoefer and wife Angi, Santa Claus; one daughter, Dr. Dava Grundhoefer, Delray Beach, Florida; three brothers, Robert Grundhoefer and wife Laverne, Santa Claus, Gary Grundhoefer and wife Cathy, Owensboro, Kentucky, and Bernie Grundhoefer and wife Sheila, Dale; two sisters, Patty Fischer and husband Stanley, Ferdinand, and Mary Martin and husband Van, Lamar.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, Dan and Marvin Grundhoefer, and one sister, Susie Maglinger.

The family will greet friends and family to share memories of Dave at St Francis of Assisi St. Nicholas Church in Santa Claus from 3-7 p.m. (CST) Thursday. A funeral mass will be held at St Nicholas Church Friday (no visitation prior).  In lieu of flowers the family requests contributions be made to Freedom Bank, David A Grundhoefer Memorial Fund.
