Albert L. Smith, 82, Huntingburg

Albert L. Smith, 82, of Huntingburg, died Tuesday (August 28) at his home. He was born in Birdseye December 29, 1935, to William and Mary (Bayless) Smith. He married Thanna Lois Rickenbaugh May 24, 1958, in Clay City. She died March 19, 2008.

Albert was employed by and retired from Styline Corporation. Following his retirement he worked for the City of Huntingburg. He was a skilled carpenter, enjoyed fishing, and loved being in the outdoors. He was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Jasper and the American Legion, and was a veteran of the U.S. Army.

He is survived by two sons, Jeffery Smith, Huntingburg, and Gregory Smith and wife Toni, Holland; one daughter, Rebecca Thompson and husband Todd, Huntingburg; one granddaughter, Erica Dotterweich, Chrisney; one great-granddaughter, Sakoia McKinney; and three sisters, Ruth Beverage, Seattle, Washington, Lovetta Campbell, Godley, Texas, and Viola Hartwick, Evansville;

Friends may call from 3-8 p.m. Thursday at the Nass and Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg and from from1-2 p.m. Friday at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses. Online condolences can be shared at www.nassandson.com. Funeral services at 2 p.m. Friday at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses followed by burial in Mayo Cemetery in Duff. Military graveside rites will be conducted by the Holland American Legion Memorial Detail.
