Thelma L. Elliott, 86, Jasper

Thelma L. Elliott, 86, of Jasper, died Tuesday (April 14) at Northwood Retirement Community in Jasper. She was born in Jasper August 3, 1932, to Louis and Clarissa (Giesler) Vonderschmidt. She married Alva Earl Elliott April 7, 1951. He died January 13, 2004.

Thelma was a 1950 graduate of Jasper High School. She was a homemaker and a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Jasper. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, crafts, and spending time with her grandchildren.

She is survived by one daughter, Janet Begle and husband Robert, Huntingburg; three sons, Earl Elliott and wife Tina, Terre Haute, Steve Elliott, Indianapolis, and Kenny Elliott and wife Lisa, Jasper; 12 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; one sister, Mary Rita Wadsworth and husband John, Spring Hill, Tennessee; and one brother, Donald Vonderschmidt, Jasper.

In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by one daughter, Cindy Michell, one son, Phil Elliott, one sister, Imelda Hadden, and one brother, Claude Vonderschmidt, who died in infancy.

Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Friday at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church, Northwood Retirement Community, Alzheimer’s Association, or to a favorite charity. Online condolences can be shared at A Mass of Christian Burial for will be held at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph Church with burial following in Fairview Cemetery.
