Janice L. Miller, 77, Huntingburg

Janice L. Miller, 77, of Huntingburg, died Wednesday (August 8) at Brookside Village Senior Living in Jasper. She was born in Jasper June 8, 1941, to Sylvester and Alice (Wehr) Bockelman. She married Robert L. Miller October 15, 1960, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Jasper. He died August 8, 2014.

Janice was a 1959 graduate of Jasper High School. She worked at Kimball Electronics, Huntingburg Middle School, and Touch of Class, and ran her own business for 40 years. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Huntingburg. She loved creating arts and crafts and was a talented seamstress and clothes designer since high school, winning numerous awards including first place at the Indiana State Fair in 1976. She was elected Homemaker of the Year in 1973. She loved all types of dancing, was an accomplished clogger, and served as president of the Buttons and Bows square dance club. She loved country music and was president of the Jennifer Danielle Fan Club.

She is survived by three sons, Dr. Roger Miller and wife Jennifer, Clemmons, North Carolina, and Kerry and Kelly Miller, both of Evansville; one grandson, Chase Miller Clemmons, North Carolina; one step grandson, Kelby Snead, Clemmons, North Carolina; four sisters, Darlene Plog, Naples, Florida, Joyce Nonte and husband Tim, Patoka, Linda Bockelman, Bloomington, and Donna (Charlie) Gillman and husband Charlie, Batesville; one brother, Jerry Bockelman, Evansville; eight nieces and nephews, Wayne and Scott Bockelman, Jill Nonte Birge, Audrey Nonte Clancy, Terry Nonte, Angie Frick Coutts, Tony Frick, and Warren Plog, and her loving special friend, Richard Neukam, Jasper.

In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by brother-in-law Ray Plog, sister-in-law Judy Bockelman, and nephew Adam Bellner.

Friends may call for from 2-8 p.m. Sunday at the Nass and Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg. A parish rosary prayer vigil will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Funeral services at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Mary’s Church with burial following in the church cemetery. The funeral mass will be celebrated by Father Ryan Hilderbrand.
