Miriam “Bonnie” Thimling, 83, Huntingburg

Miriam “Bonnie” Thimling, 83, of Huntingburg, died Wednesday (August 8) at Northwood Retirement Community in Jasper. She was born in Huntingburg May 13, 1935, to Heber and Etta Marie (Doughty) Miller. She married Dennis Thimling June 4, 1955, at Central Christian Church in Huntingburg.

Bonnie was a 1953 graduate of Huntingburg High School. She was a homemaker and worked at the Huntingburg Convalescent Center for many years. She was a member of Central Christian Church in Huntingburg and attended St. John’s Lutheran Church at the Dubois Crossroads. She loved playing the piano, gardening, and spending time with her grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband, Dennis Thimling; four daughters, Donna Borden and husband Joe, Birdseye, Sharon Gunselman and husband Jeff, Jasper, Mary Dick and husband Keith, Ireland, and Alisa Schank and husband Dave, Huntingburg; one son, Dennis Thimling Jr. and wife Carma, Jasper; 13 grandchildren; one step great-grandson; and one brother, James Miller and wife Dixie, Richmond.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two sisters, Barbara Harris and Doris McAfee, and one brother, Gordon Miller.

Friends may call from noon-6 p.m. Sunday at the Becher-Kluesner North Chapel in Jasper and from 9-10 a.m. Monday at St. John’s Lutheran Church at the Dubois Crossroads. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Alzheimer’s Association or to St. John’s Church. Funeral services at 10 a.m. Monday at the church with burial following in the church cemetery.
