Dubois County (NNDC):

Jasper man was arrested after a “Higher Power” instructed him to borrow a vehicle not belonging to him.

 JEROD  WILLIAMS WAS ARRESTED AT 3828 N PORTERSVILLE RD LOT 32 AFTER HE ATTEMPTED AUTO THEFT, UNAUTHORIZED ENTRY OF MOTOR VEHICLE, POSSESSION OF MARIJUANA, AND POSSESSION OF PARAPHERNALIA.  Suspect Says

 JASPER DISPATCH RECEIVED A CALL STATING AFTER WORK HE LOCATED A MALE SUBJECT SITTING INSIDE HIS VEHICLE. UPON OFFICERS ARRIVAL, THE SUSPECT ADVISED HE WAS DIRECTED BY A HIGHER POWER TO BORROW VICTIMS VEHICLE. UPON FURTHER INVESTIGATION OFFICERS LOCATED HIS VEHICLE STILL RUNNING PARKED SNUGGLY AGAINST BUSINESS AT THAT LOCATION. UPON APPROACHING THE 1998 BEIGE FORD CONCORD OFFICERS COULD SMELL THE ODOR OF MARIJUANA. AS OFFICERS APPROACHED THEY WERE ABLE TO SEE IN PLAIN VIEW DRUG PARAPHERNALIA. WHILE INVENTORING THE VEHICLE FOR BEING TOWED, OFFICERS ALSO LOCATED MARIJUANA.

Jasper Police are asking the public to help identify theft subjects.

Jasper Police are asking for your help identifying two people accused of stealing from vehicles.

The Dubois County Museum will host a Military Appreciation Day program on Sunday, August 12th from 1-4pm.  A special program will begin at 1:30 p.m. Master of Ceremony for the program will be Ronald Himsel.

The theme of the program is “Our American Flag: What does it mean to you?” After patriotic music and songs provided by pianist Sarah Sergesketter and vocalist/song leader Paula Alles and Randy Mills, co-author with his wife, Roxanne Mills, of the book: Summer Wind: A Soldier’s Road from Indiana to Vietnam. Mr. Mills who will have a book signing with his book before and after the program.

Refreshments will follow the program and be sure to check out the exhibit before it ends on August 31 at the museum.

Jasper Chamber Accepting Nominations for the 2018 President’s Community Excellence Award.

The award is presented annually by the president of the Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors. The presentation is made to an individual who has contributed generously of his or her time, talents, or resources to the Jasper community.

This award is open to all walks of life and honors those who give what they can of what they have, in order to make a difference.  The nominations that are received help recognize those who give so generously of themselves.

All nominations will be judged by a committee drawn from the current Jasper Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors and the award will be presented at the Annual Chamber Luncheon Meeting to be held in the fall.

Deadline for nominations is September 1, 2018.

The nominee must be an individual, but may be nominated by an individual or organization. Nomination forms are available at the Jasper Chamber of Commerce, and may be submitted along with the following criteria:

  • A letter of up to one page listing your reasons for the nomination.
  • A biography of the individual listing his or her service to the community.
