Carol L. Chappell, 75, Huntingburg

Carol L. Chappell, 75, of Huntingburg, died Sunday (August 5) at Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center in Jasper. She was born in Jasper September 24, 1942, to Dorothy (Buechlein) Kelley. She married Dewayne Chappell September 24, 1960, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Huntingburg. He died August 11, 2014.

Carol retired in 2005 as manager of Indiana Berry and Plant Company. She was a member of the Huntingburg High School Class of 1960, a former Girl Scout leader; and a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Huntingburg where she served as a Eucharistic minister and a member of the Ladies Sodality and C.R.H.P (Christ Renews His Parish).

She is survived by two daughters, Stacy Weisman and husband Phil, Ireland, and Shannon Farrell and husband Joe, Indianapolis; one son, Doug Chappell and wife Brenda, Indianapolis; one brother, Charles “Buck” Kelley, Jr., Marengo, four sisters, Rose Schitter, Haysville, Judy Jeffries and Inez Himes, both of Huntingburg, and Cathy Arehart, Celestine; and six grandchildren, Jessica, Marissa, Emily, Audrey, Kevin, and Kenzli.

In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by two brothers, Donald and Raymond Kelley.

Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Nass and Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg. The St. Mary’s Ladies Sodality will lead a rosary prayer vigil at 4 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions can be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, Riley Children’s Hospital, or Online condolences can be shared at Funeral services at 10 a.m.Thursday at St. Mary’s Church with burial following in the church cemetery. The funeral mass will be celebrated by Father Ryan Hilderbrand.
