Dubois County (NNDC):

Drugs and sexual misconduct leads to the arrest of 6 individuals.


A call was on July 11th 2018 when Huntingburg Police were dispatched to a location in Huntingburg reference a welfare check on a 14-year-old female who was possibly under the influence of methamphetamine.  Huntingburg Police located the girl and she was transported to the hospital due to her condition.  They were assisted by Jasper Police and the Sheriff’s Dept.

On July 12th 2018 the Detective with the Huntingburg Police Department along with the Huntingburg Police Narcotic Officer, the Dubois County Sheriff’s Department Narcotic Officer, and the Jasper Police Department Narcotic Officer, started an investigation.  Through their investigation police learned that several adults were contributing drugs to the 14-year-old. Police say that 2 adult males had a sexual relationship with the juvenile. Further stating that Leonel Hernandez had sexual relations with a juvenile in July of 2018.  Police also learned that Leonel was also contributing drugs to the juvenile.  Finally, Police say that in 2017 they learned that Austin Elliot also  had sexual relations with a juvenile.

Early morning fire sends 3 Masterbramd employees to the hospital.

Three workers were sent to the hospital this morning after reporting difficult breathing following a fire at MasterBrand Cabinets in Ferdinand.

Fire officials say lacquer in a booth combusted causing the flames and smoke.  The building was evacuated as ventilation was preformed by firefighters.

Firefighters were on the scene for about an hour and a half.  Damage is estimated at $20,000 but fire officials say the sprinkler system greatly reduced the possibility of the fire spreading and causing even further damage.
