Jasper Reds have Strong Outing against Former MLB Stars in Bluegrass World Series

Louisville (NNDC) – The Jasper Reds took the field on Monday night at Slugger Field in Louisville as part of the inaugural Bluegrass World Series with a large task at hand.    Their opponent (Louisville Stars) was comprised of former MLB Stars who still play the game at a very high level.    The Stars featured the likes of Johnny Damon, Jason Marquis and J.D. Drew to name a few.

Jasper entered the game just one week removed from finishing their regular season with an impressive 18-0 record.   Bo Daves took the mound for the Reds with a 5-0 mark.   Daves held the Stars scoreless until the bottom of the 2nd inning when Louisville plated one but the big blow came in inning number 4 as the Louisville Stars sent three runs across the plate including a two run shot by Corky Miller.   Louisville would add one more run to the tally in the bottom of the 8th and held Jasper scoreless in the 9th giving the MLB stars a 5-0 win.

Bo Daves (5-1) took the loss for Jasper and Jason Marquis picked up the win for the Louisville Stars.   The Reds finished the game with no runs on 5 hits and no errors.   Louisville had 5 runs on 7 hits and no errors.   Jasper returns to action in the Bluegrass World Series on Wednesday afternoon with a 3:30pm tilt against the FCSL Futures team.   The Louisville Stars also return to action on Wednesday with a 7pm start against the Hattiesburg Black Sox.
