Dorothy Mae Seitz, 88, Jasper

Dorothy Mae Seitz, 88, of Jasper, died Tuesday (July 24) at Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center in Jasper. She was born in Haysville October 1, 1929, to Leo and Amanda (Kieffner) Meyer. She married Charles J. Seitz October 6, 1949, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Haysville. He died December 26, 2006.

Dorothy worked as a bookkeeper for many years. She was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Haysville, WELCA, TOPS, Women’s Homemaker Club,  VFW Auxiliary, and Navy Auxiliary Ship No. 90. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, quilting, playing games, jigsaw puzzles, and spending time with her children and grandchildren.

She is survived by one daughter, Peggy Stemle and husband Steve, Owensboro, Kentucky; , Owensboro, KY, one son, Terry Seitz and wife Deena, Jasper; four grandchildren, Holly Smith and husband Todd, Kristen Ruhe and husband Phil, Brad Stemle, and  Lori Werner and husband Maurey; seven great-grandchildren, one sister, Barbara Lottes and husband Bob, Loogootee, and one brother, John Meyer and wife Sandy, Merritt Island, Florida.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one brother, Robert Meyer, and one daughter-in-law, Ann Seitz.

Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Saturday at the Becher-Kluesner North Chapel in Jasper and from 1-2 p.m. Sunday at St. Paul’s Church. The Navy Club and its Auxiliary will conduct a memorial service at 6:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions can be made to St. Paul’s Church.
