John W. Freyberger, 95, Haysville

John W. Freyberger, 95, of Haysville, died Thursday (July 12) at his home. He was born in Daviess County July 12, 2018, at his home. He was born in Daviess County October 2, 1922, to Grover and Maddie (Huebner) Freyberger. He married Mary Jean Goodman October 19, 1946, at Christ Lutheran Church in Haysville.

John served in the U.S. Navy Air Corp. during World War II. He retired from Jasper Rubber Products where he worked for 36 years. He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church and American Legion Post No. 147 in Jasper. He enjoyed Indiana University basketball, gardening, and bingo.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Jean Freyberger; two daughters, Jonna L. Frick and husband Dean, Evansville, and Kimberly A. Thomas, Augustine, Florida; nine grandchildren, Ryan, Molly, Ashley, and Lesley Baer, Quinn Pickett, Pvt 1st Class Paul Thomas, Michaela Thomas, Hannah Fischer, and Hillarie Schmett; and 13 great -grandchildren.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by four sisters, Marie Burton, Hilda Leinenbach, Lucille Freyberger, and Gladys Marlatt; and one half-sister, Lilly Penny.

Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. Sunday at the Becher-Kluesner North Chapel and from 10-11 a.m. Monday at Christ Lutheran Church. Memorial contributions may be made to Christ Lutheran Church or to a favorite charity. Funeral services at 11 a.m. Monday at the church with burial following in Haysville Community Cemetery. American Legion Post No. No.147 will conduct military graveside rites.
